Happy Due Date!!

I cannot believe that today is my due date!! After nine long months is waiting, this day is finally here!! Everything up until this point has been looking toward this day. I did not sleep well last night, because I kept wondering if I would go into labor in the middle of the night.

I tried explaining to Jon that this is worse than Christmas Eve! I mean at least at Christmas you know the day that it will come on December 25th. Christmas day never changes; however waiting for a little baby is very different. For all I know she could wait two more weeks before she decides to come.

All a long the way I have talked about having an attitude of patience. Up until this point in time, I have done really well. However, in these days following my due date, when I am officially "late", I am going to have to act out the patience that I have been talking about for months. I have talked the talk, but now is the time where I am given the opportunity to live it out.

Above everything else, I want God to be honored through my pregnancy, labor, and delivery. I want to be able to explain to those around me that the peace and patience I have at this time is from Christ alone! This is not something that I could manufactor on my own.

As for my pregnancy, things are going really well! Yesterday, my doctor checked my amniotic fluid levels by doing an ultrasound. It was so cool to see how big Olivia is now compared to when I last saw her at 17 weeks! I will go back to see the doctor again on Thursday. At that appointment, he will take time to check my fluid levels to see how Olivia is holding up in there. My prayer is that everything will continue to go well!

In the meantime, I have been working on getting all of the final touches ready for Olivia!! Here are some pictures of Olivia's things on her wall in our bedroom.

Everything is ready! The only thing missing is a baby!

Some of Olivia's beautiful gifts that she received from friends and family!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers during this time!

My New Journal

My new journal!

This morning I finally set aside some time to write in my old/current journal. After doing that I realized that I only had a few pages left in my journal before I needed to get a new one. Since I combined my two journals into one I go through them a lot quicker than I did in the past. You see, I used to have a notebook for journaling and another for taking notes at church during sermons. A while back I combined them into one journal, so I could begin to compare what God was teaching me with what I was going through on a daily basis. I really love having everything together and am so glad that I switched!

All that being said, I knew that it was time for a new journal for many reasons. First, I have a new baby coming any day now! I am going to be a Mommy for the very first time! Second, I've moved out of my current Sunday school class. I will now be teaching a Sunday school class for 9th grade girls at my church. Finally, this past Sunday (August 26th) our church voted and approved a new pastor! We've been without a pastor for a year and this is a huge answer to prayer! I am excited for our new pastor to begin preaching on September 9th!

As you can see, there are a lot of changes coming my way this year. For me, a new baby, new ministry, and new pastor make up the perfect reason for me to begin a brand-new journal!

I know that in the days and weeks to come, that I will have so much to write about. I look forward to pouring out my heart to God on the pages of my journal. I look forward to the lessons that I will learn and the struggles that God will bring me through. I have no idea what my future holds, but I know who holds my future!

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28

Olivia's First Purse

Yesterday, I told you all about my Timbuk2 diaper bag. Well, I was not the only one who got a new bag at the baby shower. One of my friends from Sunday school, Nichole, gave Olivia her very first purse!! I am cannot wait for Olivia to arrive and get big enough to enjoy her first purse!

I took pictures of the purse and posted them below so that you can see it.

My Timbuk2 Diaper Bag

If you didn't already know, Jon and I have a thing for Timbuk2 bags! I have blogged about our Timbuk2 bags before and if you would like to check it out, click here.

For weeks I spent time doing research about diaper bags. I wanted to find something that would work best for me. There are SO many options out there that it was overwhelming. Finally, back in May, I told you that I had decided to use a medium Cargo Tote from Timbuk2 as my diaper bag. If you want to read more about that, click here. I even took time to design my bag online and the picture below is what I had come up with!

My friends had told me that they wanted to get my diaper bag for me. So I sent them the details about my diaper bag and waited and waited and waited.

I am happy to say that yesterday at my last baby shower, I finally got my newest Timbuk2 bag!! My friends order the bag online. Next, they had the bag sent to my husband who hid it from me. Then, Jon wrapped my bag and had it waiting for me at my last baby shower!

I was so excited when I opened this gift and saw my bag in person! I even had to take time during the shower to explain what a Timbuk2 bag is to all of my Texas friends!

Me showing off my diaper bag!!

I was so excited about my new bag that I went home and immediately started packing my diaper bag. It was late, but I wasn't even tired. I was excited to fill up my new bag with all of the essentials that Olivia is going to need once she gets here!

Olivia can officially come now, because I have had my last baby shower and now I have a diaper bag!!

Pregnancy Highlights: 36 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 36 weeks 3 days

Size of Baby Newsham: Our baby is as big as a watermelon or 19 to 22 in, 6.5 lbs

source

Maternity Clothes: Of course! However, I am really looking forward to being able to wear my old clothes again.

Gender: Girl

Name: Olivia Jane

Getting Ready: Just this week, I have become very interested in doing things that will help induce my labor. I have been reading lists online with crazy ideas about how to induce your labor. My mother-in-law, Lisa, recommended that I start taking Primrose Oil capsules in the evening. With my doctor's permission I have begun to do this. I am also eating pineapple, because I have heard that can help induce labor as well. I am still walking almost everyday, because I know that it is good for me and Olivia. If you have any creative ideas on how to induce labor, I would love to hear them!

Movement: Olivia continues to move around a lot. Sometimes it is uncomfortable, because we are running out of room. However, it is such an honor to be able to share my body with my daughter during this time.

Sleep: Jon has been sick and sleeping on the couch all week. So, neither one of us have slept very well. We've also been up late most days this past week. It all caught up with me last night, when I was starting to fall asleep before dinner. I gave in and went to bed at 9:00pm and slept until almost 7:00am!

What I Miss: For weeks, I have been afraid that my feet would start to swell. Because of this, I have not been crossing my legs, so that I could try to avoid the swelling. I cannot wait until Olivia's born and I can cross my legs again! I still could cross them if I wanted to, but I am choosing not to right now.

Best Moment of the Week: The best moment this week was on Wednesday night, after Bible study when we got our car seat!! My friend Allison had an extra car seat that she wanted to give to us. I was more than willing to accept her generous offer. Now, we just have to properly secure the base in the car, so that it is ready to go when Olivia comes!

Food Cravings: This week I experienced my first really bad set of late night cravings. Wednesday night around 9:30pm I was starving and felt like I could eat a second dinner! I ended up eating a bowl of cereal which helped! I think I have had more cravings in my third trimester than I ever did in my first or second trimesters.

Symptoms: My most recent pregnancy symptom has been that my feet swell up while I am at work. I sit at a desk from 8:00am - 5:00pm and my feet cannot help but swell up. I get up and walk around about every hour, but that does not seems to help very much. The ladies I work with gave me something to put under my desk to help prop my feet up, so hopefully that will help.

Due Date: August 28th, 2012

Next Dr. Appointment: Monday, August 6, 2012 at 9:30am

Daddy: Unfortunately, Jon has been sick all week. Thankfully, we were able to get him into a clinic last night. However, this clinic cost an arm and a leg, so please pray that God will provide for us financially. The doctor there explained to Jon that he has bronchitis and a sinus infection. We filled Jon's prescription last night, so that he could begin taking him medicine. Please pray for healing and that he will get better before Olivia decides to make her way into this world.

Prayer Requests: I've already asked that you would pray for Jon. However, now I want to ask that you would pray for me.

Please pray that God would continue to give me His peace as I get closer and closer to Olivia's arrival. Pray that Olivia will be in the correct position for labor. Pray that God will give me the strength I need for my upcoming labor and delivery. Pray that these last few weeks would be a sweet time as we make our final preparations for Olivia.
