Yoga Mat Package

Jon came home last night holding a package for me from Michelle. I took a picture of this, because I thought it was awesome! You see my dear friend Michelle sent me a yoga mat. I have wanted a yoga mat for quite sometime. Well Michelle bought the yoga mat for me, which was the easy part. The hard part was trying to figure out the best way to package the yoga mat and mail it. Thankfully the woman at the Post Office had a very creative idea. I hope that you enjoy this picture as much as I do. I am so thankful for good friends and faithful postal workers!

Living a Change Life: The Blog

A couple weeks ago I got up and thought that I would create a blog that had to do with The Love Dare. You see I took the KLOVE Love Dare Challenge 41 days ago. However, 40 days is not long enough to let God really work out the issues in my marriage that He needs to work on. I was going to blog for the next 40 days, each day posting the devotional and the dare in case there are others out there who want to take up this challenge as well. However, as I was considering this I was thinking about website that I already have, that I have practically neglected since November 2009. It was called Living a Changed Life.

When I started that website in August 2009, I thought that it was all about my weight loss journey and helping others through their journeys as well. But it is more than that, people need help through their journey called Life. The person who will help them through that best is Jesus Christ. So that is why I will not be updating my website anymore, but moving here a blog format.

I will blog about my weight loss maintenance journey as well as other things that God puts in my path. I will try to post recipes and low point foods for those who want it. At the same times each day I will post The Love Dare devotional and dare for that day. Living a Changed Life is about every aspect of your life and that’s what I am going to blog about!

Letting Go For Lent

A few days ago I remembered something about my time at Multnomah Bible College. There was one year in particular that I choose to fast for Lent. I remember that it helped to prepare me for Easter and helped me to be more reflective in forty days leading up to such a significant holiday.

I honestly haven't thought about it much more after that until yesterday morning. While I was getting ready for work, the Lord reminded me that it was Ash Wednesday and the first day of Lent. I felt a very strong urge to fast and give something up for the next forty day. There were two things that I considered fasting from, chocolate or TV.

To make a long story short, TV won over chocolate. I was so excited when Jon decided to do this with me. It is always easier to do these things with other people by your side. When Jon came home from work last night he decided that we were going to put the TV away for a while so that it would not be such a temptation for us both.

I am praying that God blesses our lives and our marriage over the next forty days as we are on this journey with Him. TV was also the idol that God has been asking me to let go of for over two and a half months. Well last night I let that idol go in obedience to the Lord and am walking in faith that God has something better planned for my life. God will help you to let go of whatever it is that you think is better then Him.

So of course we rearranged the living room after we took out the TV. Here is what it looks like now.

Learning to Crochet

With the announcement of my future niece or nephew's impending arrival in September of 2010. I decided that I either needed to learn how to quilt, crochet, or knit. This is so that I will have the necessary skills to create a baby blanket by fall. It seemed all too easy when I learned that my friend and co-worker Anna knew how to quilt and crochet! I am so thankful the the Lord always provides just what we need. Anna's Mom was so excited that she gave Anna crochet hooks and yarn for me to practice on. I have only learned one stitch so far, but I am excited to learn more.

Thanks Anna and Anna's Mom!!

Here is a picture of my practice square.

He Loves Me...

I'm sure that most girls out there can remember back to a time in her childhood when she recited an all too familiar rhyme. For me it would happen while I was outside playing or taking a walk. I would spot a beautiful daisy and pick it up. Gently I would tear off each petal saying, "He loves me. He loves me not." As the petals grew scarce I hoped that with the last one I would be able to say the words, "He loves me." Sometimes he did and sometimes he did not. As Valentine's day approaches and I excited to proclaim just how much I love Jon, I am thankful that this rhyme does not threaten me. With every passing year I become more and more secure in God's love for me and in turn Jon's love for me. I'm not sure how it all works, but I am thankful that God is doing that work in us.

Happy Valentine's Day!! I love you Jon!! Thank you for loving me so well.

More Snow Pictures

When Jon got home from work tonight, we had to go out and take pictures.

Snow Day

Snow is so good for the soul! Snow is such a calming beauty. Jon and I have lived in Texas for over 3 year. In that time we have never seen snow like this in Texas. I woke up this morning, thinking that there wouldn't be that much to see. The weatherman on channel 7 said that if we got snow it would not come until Thursday night or Friday morning. Much to my suprise, I opened the blinds to see it snowing. The snow flakes were tiny and I thought that it would go away by the time I left for work, but I was wrong. By 8am the snow was beginning to stick to the roof. When I checked again around 10am I saw that it was still snowing and sticking to the ground!!

I am so thankful for the gift of snow that the Lord has given us. Hopefully we will get so much snow that I will get to go home from work and enjoy it a little bit more.

Our Prayer Card

This morning we had breakfast with Dwayne King from Kingdom Air Corps. He spoke words of encouragement, that we needed to hear. Dwayne is excited about what God is doing in our lives and the plans He has for us. Right before Dwayne left he said that we should make a prayer card to give out to people that we share our story with. As you might have guessed as soon as Dwayne and Jon left I got started on our prayer card. It was hard to decide what I wanted to do, because their were so many options. I have been working on this silly prayer card all day, but I am so excited about the finished product!

My Unexpected Win

I listen to KLOVE, all day, every day while I am at work. Yesterday, Scott and Kelli were asking people to post their best Superbowl snack recipes. I knew right away that I had to post a recipe for Oreo Balls. Jon and I absolutely love these. If they are in our house they will be eaten. But after posting the recipe I really didn’t think about it much after that.

So this morning Scott and Kelli announce the top 5 recipes that are going to compete for first place. As they were reading off each name with the corresponding recipe, I heard my own name read as one of the finalist! How exciting! I’ve never won anything like this before. So I went to Scott and Kelli’s Facebook page to vote for myself. I went to my co-worker and asked her to vote as well, thinking that I needed all the help I could get.

After the hour of voting was finished they announced that I was the winner! I came in first place with the best Superbowl snack recipe. I got an email from Kelli shortly after they announced that I had won. She said that I had picked up a KLOVE prize pack with books, cds, etc.! I will keep you posted as to what I get, because I really don’t know. But I just had to share it with you, because I was so excited!!

Vivian's Little Baby Bean

Vivian was finally able to go to the doctor's office yesterday afternoon. She was able to hear the baby's heartbeat. She also got in for an ultrasound, where she was able to see her baby. Mom said that the baby looked like a kidney bean on the screen, so I think from now on we are going to refer to this child as "Baby Bean". I'm sure it won't stick after we find out the sex of the baby, but for now it's cute.

Vivian was also found out that her due date is on September 9th!! The countdown has begun. Here is a pitcure that Vivian posted for me on Facebook of her belly. It's not much, but I look forward to watching it grow. Please continue to keep Vivian, Daniel, and Baby Bean in your prayers.
