A Gentle Reminder

So I was at work like I am everyday, sitting at my desk and assessing files. Well I recieved a file this morning that moved me so greatly. Many of you know about my family and the situation that is in constant chaos. How are the two connected you wonder? You see the file I am assessing right now has two transcripts from different community colleges in Washington state!! I could not believe it. I always see transcripts from Texas and it's surrounding states, but this file was just for me.

The most amazing part about all of this was how much it moved me. I sat there looking at them and I almost began crying (which would have been rather embarassing). To me these transcripts are a huge reminder of the fact that I am here in Texas while my family is not. But more then that, it was like the Lord was saying I am everywhere, especially with your family. And I did not even know it, but I needed that reassurance.

What a wonderful God we have! Pray for me tonight I am going to a Bible study at the church and right now I am really nervous about it even though I really want to go to it. Thanks!!

Another School Year

Update on Jon: Well the 08-09 school year at LeTourneau University is officiallly underway. Jon had his first day of classes yesterday. And as you would expect he already has homework. He is taking 15 credit hours this semester and working about 30 hours each week. He has lightened his load a bit now that I have a job here at LeTourneau and he will be able to use our tuition waiver next year. He is still working at the Olive Garden and out at the LeTourneau hangar, but this semester he is also going to be a tutor for people in Flight Science I. He is really looking foward to it.

It's raining in Texas

So I thought I would let you know that it has been raining in Texas since mid-night on Monday. We have had thunderstorms and what seems like a continuos downpour since then. Everyone else here is complaining and wishes it would let up, but not me. The sky is dark grey so even at 8 o'clock in the morning it looks more like night time then anything else. I love the rain and I am just so thankful that the Lord lets us find joy in even the littlest things in life. The thunderstorms are supposed to continue into the weekend and I am so glad!! What makes me nervous is that Texans do not know how to drive in the rain, but I guess that is God's way of getting me to pray more ; ).

An Ode to George

Happy 22nd Birthday George!!

Today was George's 22nd birthday. Jon and I were able to spend time with George on his 22nd birthday. We went to lunch with him and then while I was at work the guys watched movies and hung-out. Then the went and bought George's birthday present to himself, a motorcycle. Yes a motorcycle. It is going to be a project that he is going to work on gradually. It was great to see him so excited about it. Later we all met up with the Burgess's at Applebee's for dinner and went to their apartment for birthday cake. It was a fun evening. We love George and are so thankful that he's here in Longview with us for his birthday!!

16 Days until School Begins....

Well life continues to move along. I cannot believe it is already August and we are already busy watching the Olympics. Let m just be the first to admit that Jon and I REALLY wish we were in China watching these Olympics games in person. Someday we will be able to go back and we cannot wait for that day.

This past week Jon was busy training at the Olive Garden almost every night of the week. We were able to hang-out on Friday and Saturday night!! It has been a long time since we were able to hang-out on two weekend nights in a row. We went and watched the 3rd Mummy movie together. It was fun. Above all we were able to talk and just enjoy one another's company without worrying about what we need to do next.

Other then that my job is going really well. I just feel so incredibly blessed! Thank you all who prayed that I would get a job at LeTourneau because it is truly a blessing.

So you are probably wondering what life has in store for us next? Well we have a little over two weeks until Jon starts classes. He is taking a lighter load this semester which I think will be good for the both of us.

Here are also the links to my facebook page where you can look at all of our pictures from our trip to Portland. I hope you enjoy them, because we had such a wonderful trip!

Welcoming.... Nathan Scott Reese

Our friend Thomas and Christy welcomed their first child into the world this week (August 4th, 2008). I would like to introduce you all to Nathan Scott Reese. He was born at 8:07pm and he was 8 lbs, 8 oz, and 22 in long. Nathan is so precious! He is skinny and so long. He has black hair like his Daddy and I think his face looks like his Mama. It has been so amazing to be friends with Christy and walk with her through this. God is amazing!

Here are some pictures of The Reese Family, as well as Jon and I with Nathan. Enjoy!
